ABBA

Their international popularity began upon being formed in
1970 in Stockholm, Sweden. Creating a big full vocal harmony
and using the first letter of their name, Scandinavian singers
Agnetha Faltskog, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and
Anni-Frid Lyngstad became ABBA with numerous
visits to the Hit Parade.

Their first million selling single, “Waterloo” in 1974 was followed by
“Honey, Honey,” “SOS,” “I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do,” “Mamma Mia “ and
“Fernando” before topping the charts for twenty-two consecutive
weeks with “Dancing Queen” in 1976.

“Knowing You, Knowing Me,” “Money, Money, Money” and
“The Name Of The Game,” continued ABBA’s hit streak before
“Take A Chance On Me” gave the group a third million selling
top five hit. And again in 1980 “The Winner Takes It All” was
another million selling single.

Even today the sale of albums continue to add to ABBA’s
nearly 500 million sold worldwide with the groups
Greatest Hits selling more than 27 million recordings.

ABBA was inducted into Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2002.
In 2010 ABBA was inducted into both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
and the Hit Parade Hall of Fame.
