Barry Manilow

Born Barry Alan Pincus on June 17, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York,
as a child his name was legally changed to Barry Manilow who in
childhood began playing the accordion and piano and after graduating
from high school would attend the famed Juilliard School of
music and become a successful commercial jingle writer/singer before
achieving fame as a recording star.

Accompanying Bette Midler and others would lead to a recording
contract of his own and topping the Hit Parade with “Mandy”
in the mid 1970’s. “It’s A Miracle,” “Could It Be Magic” and his
second #1 single, “I Write the Songs” would follow. In 1976,
“Tryin’ To Get the Feeling Again,” “This Ones for You” and
“Weekend in New England” kept his hit streak going
before again his “Looks Like We Made It” topped the charts.

In 1978 additional gold came from “Can’t Smile
Without You,” “Copacabana” and “Somewhere In the Night,” with “
Ships” and “I Made it Through the Rain” million sellers too.
“Daybreak,” “Even Now,” “Ready to Take a Chance Again,”
“Old Songs” and “I Don’t Want To Walk Without You”
were among Barry’s other hit singles.

With his albums continuing to top the best seller listings
and concerts including Las Vegas appearances sold out far
in advance, Barry Manilow is an international superstar.
