Tony Orlando & Dawn

Born Michael Anthony Orlando Cassavitis on April 3, 1944 in New York,
Tony Orlando had his first solo hit recordings as a teenager before the
1970’s stardom of the group known as Dawn and the addition of Joyce
Vincent and Thelma Hopkins.

Tony first arrived on the Hit Parade with “Halfway to Paradise,” “Bless You”
and “Happy Times” in 1961 but didn’t repeat until as the lead singer of
Dawn, “Candida” became a million seller landing inside the top five and
“Knock Three Times” also struck gold topping the best selling charts in
the early 70’s.

Dawn’s successes continued in 1973 with their multi million selling single
“Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Old Oak Tree” stayed on the charts for
23 consecutive weeks earning them another gold record. It was followed
by “Say, Has Anybody Seen My Sweet Gypsy Rose.” Among their more
than twenty hit singles, Dawn also sold more than a million of “Steppin’
Out” in 1974 and once again landed at #1 with “He Don’t Love You,
Like I Love You” in 1975.

In 1974 Tony Orlando and Dawn began a two year run with a popular
variety show on CBS television. With more than a dozen albums to their
credit, Tony Orlando continues to make appearances in various venues
nationally including those in Branson, Missouri and Las Vegas, Nevada.
